Raglan

I moved to Raglan from Hamilton about twenty years ago. I look out at the harbour every day from my potter’s wheel and I pinch myself because this place so beautiful.

I used to come here often - because of the relaxed vibe and I’ve always loved walking the beach - so in the end it just felt obvious to base the studio in this lovely place.

There’s something about the way the natural environment nurtures you here. It’s very grounding and the pots I make have been influenced by that: very simple and straightforward.

The colours come from the landscape and the sea … blues and greens and chalky whites … and one of our most popular colours is Aqua. It instantly cheers up any breakfast table and we’ve found it sits especially happily with our pressed glass and our celadon-coloured French linen.

Mother's Day

For lots of mothers (and fathers too) Mother's Day means burnt toast, lukewarm tea and crumbs in the bed. But at least it’s one morning you don’t have to make it yourself!

The rest of the year, though, why not try using our classic Rattan Breakfast Tray?

Lightweight and sturdy, rattan is a tropical vine found throughout Southeast Asia. It’s super-fast-growing (at 2cm per day) so is sustainable and renewable, not to mention being beautiful. Our trays and placemats are all handmade in Myanmar.

One of the things about my business I’m most proud of is the fact that not only do mothers and daughters come to us for pottery, homewares and gifts but that now (after 40 years) we’ve started to meet grand-daughters too!
